Was your road scheduled to be improved in the Virginia 2009-2014 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program? It may no longer be on the list, as the Virginia Department of Transportation had to delay or completely remove several projects across the New River Valley, due to the lack of funding.

More than 16,000 tickets were written, including 725 from the New River Valley, during the 2008 Fourth of July weekend by the Virginia State Police. Also, 12 individuals lost their lives across the Commonwealth during the same time span.

The fourth class of Leadership New River Valley graduated 14 members of its 2007-2008 class in June 2008.  Many of the graduates are already making a difference in their communities and have pledged themselves to greater service as a result of the program.

A Pulaski County man, along with a Radford resident, were just two of 59 new Virginia State Troopers to graduate from the 114th Trooper Basic Session this past Thursday in Richmond.
