Blacksburg Parks and Recreation

Blacksburg Parks and Recreation has over 500 acres of park land (400 in Town and 100 out of Town) for citizens to enjoy. The parks have a variety of amenities such as playgrounds, facilities, sport fields, natural areas, greenways and more. Parks are used by the Recreation staff for programming of activities as well as for individuals to use for their own recreational interest.

During the past year,  the Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department offered more than 700 program opportunities for citizens of all ages. Trips, camps, lessons, adventures, specialty programs and special events are just a few of the options.

Blacksburg's greenway system consists of miles of walking and biking trails linking the many beautiful places in Town. Long range planning of the Corridor system includes greenways, walking & biking for recreation plus bike lanes on road for commuting.

Recreation Facilities Include:

Community Center for programs and rentals
Aquatic Center for swimming and birthday parties
Park picnic shelters for half day and full day rentals

Blacksburg Parks and Recreation also offers seasonal special events for celebrating festive times. July 4th celebrates with music and fireworks; the Easter Egg Hunt brings the Easter bunny and 10,000 eggs; Halloween is filled with games and treats; and the Holiday Parade is the perfect way to celebrate the season.
