Description: Carilion Hospice Services of the New River Valley (CHS) is an organization that provides medical, psycho-social and spiritual care and other support services to people with a life limiting, progressive illness and to his or her family. Hospice affirms life by providing the care and support necessary to enhance the quality of life remaining for the patient. Hospice care is pallative. The aim is to manage pain and other symptoms so that patients remain comfortable and at an optimum level of functioning, preferably in their own homes. In addition, CHS offers speakers and other educational programming to family, friends and the public.
