Description: The Family Therapy Center is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. The Center's staff are doctoral students in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. Our therapists typically hold Master's degrees in marriage and family therapy, psychology, clinical social work, or other mental health disciplines. Family problems that are addressed include: couple and marital therapy; family therapy; individual psychotherapy; intimacy and sexual concerns; reproductive issues; child management; parenting; domestic conflicts; separation and divorce issues; sexual and other abuse issues; stress and anxiety; eating disorders; HIV and other chronic illness and many other personal and relational concerns. Fees are assessed by a sliding scale.

    The Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering, the School of Architecture + Design in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences' Undergraduate Research Institute, and a pair of departments working together, the Department of History and the Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education, will all receive the 2008 University Exemplary Department Award at a ceremony to be held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at The Inn at Virginia Tech.
