  • Business professor awarded grant to research computer language's lack of popularity
    Accounting and information systems associate professor Steve Sheetz has received a grant from accounting and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers to investigate why more firms have not adopted XBRL -- eXtensible Business Reporting Language, part of a group of information systems languages used for communicating information between businesses and on the Internet.
  • Markel senior vice president to give Wachovia Lecture
    Markel Corporation's senior vice president and chief financial officer Richard R. Whitt will give a talk on Thursday, Nov. 13, as the Wachovia Distinguished Speaker in the Pamplin College of Business.
  • Multi-disciplinary university workshop aims to transform computing education
    Faculty members in computer science, English, and the Pamplin College of Business will lead a two-day workshop aimed at gathering information about the use of computing and information technology in different disciplines. The workshop, on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1, will be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center.
