Event: 'Oktoberfest Is Back At Mountain Lake.'

Oktoberfest is back at Mountain Lake. The dates are October 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 31st and November 1st. The schedule of events start at 5:00pm with the Bierarten featuring German Beers, Wines and Spiced Cider until 10:00pm. From 5:00pm to 6:00pm there will be an Appetizer Grill with German Sausages, Fresh Bake Rolls and Condiments. The Feast of Oktoberfest runs from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a traditional German buffet, a cold banquet table, a carving station with roasted pig and a Fresh Baked Pastry and Sweets Bar. The entertainment gets underway at 7:00pm with the Saurkraut Band, a German Oompah Band. Tickets are $35.00 per person for adults and children ages 12 and over and $17.50 for children 4 - 11. Alcoholic beverages are extra.

    Two of Virginia Tech's most distinguished teacher/scholars -- Gary Downey, Alumni Distinguished Professor in the Department of Science and Technology in Society in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, and Marc Edwards, the Charles Lunsford Professor of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering and 2007 John D. and Catherine MacArthur Fellow -- will deliver the keynote addresses at Virginia Tech's 2008 Fall University and Graduate School Commencement ceremonies to be held Friday, Dec. 19.
