Event: 'Blue Demon Invitational'

September 06th at the Christiansburg Primary/Elementary School Grounds. Teams from Cave Spring, Galax, Hidden Valley, Virginia High School and Radford will be competing including Christiansburg.

Time Schedule:

8:00am to 9:30am Packet Pick-up

8:00am Wide Open Race – 3.1 Miles – NO COST

8:30am  5th, 6th, 7th Grade Race – 1 Mile – NO COST

9:00am Varsity Girls

9:45am Varsity Boys

10:30am JV Girls

11:15am JV Boys

AWARDS Will follow last race ASAP (near picnic shelter).Course: Most of the course is very hilly and demanding. 90% of the course is on grass, but there is some asphalt the runners will be running on. The course will be mowed and marked clearly with little yellow flags on both sides of the running area. There will be painted arrows on every turn so no one gets confused. There will also be road monitors to stop traffic if necessary. The course is an official 3.1 mile race. Teams should come dressed and ready to run. There will be no showers or locker rooms available. There will also be two porta-johns available for use. The Christiansburg Elementary School at the bottom of the hill will be locked and is OFF LIMITS!!!! The lounge area in CES will also be OFF LIMITS!!! The lounge area in CES will also be OFF LIMITS!!! 

Course Records : Boys Varsity 3.1 – Griff Graves/Abingdon 15:47 (2006)

Girls Varsity 3.1 – Kirsten Hagen/Christiansburg 19:00 (2003)

Boys JV 3.1 – Stephen Kadak/Jefferson Forest 18:26 (2007)

Girls JV 3.1 – Mary Kate Ontenada/Virginia High 21:26 (2007)

Entries: Up to 7 in each varsity race. Unlimited entries in the JV races. 8th graders must run the JV race. 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will not be allowed in the JV race. They must run the one miler at 8:30.

Entry Fee: $5.00 for each JV and Varsity runner you enter or $50.00 per team. (Girls are one team and boys are another team). There will be no cost for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders.

Entry Deadline: SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, 2008

Awards: Varsity – Top 3 Teams will receive a trophy

Each Top 7 runner will receive a medal so that each member of the team

can take a piece of the trophy home with them.

JV – Top 3 teams will receive a trophy

Top 10 in each race will receive a medal

*** Top 7 times of the day (JV and Varsity combined) receive an

“All Meet Team” T-shirt

5th, 6th, 7th Graders – Top 3 boys and girls receive a medal

Everyone else receives a ribbon

Shirts/Concessions: T-shirts will be sold for $15.00. Lots of food and drinks will be on sale

(Gatorade, Water, Pizza, Hot dogs, Fruit, etc.)

Scoring: Computerized. Copies will be made available after the awards ceremony.
