July 5th to the 9th. The Radford Parks and Recreation Department will host the District 3 Angels, Ponytails and Dixie Belles Dixie Softball Tournament July 5-9 at Veterans Field in Radford. Teams from Radford, Botetourt, Montgomery County, Blacksburg, Christiansburg and Giles County will be competing. The games start at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Games on Sunday start at 2:00pm and during the week, all games will start at 6:00pm. Admission is $3 for adults (13 and up), $2 (ages 7-12) and free for those 6 and under.

A new technology, using electric pulses to destroy cancer tissue and named by NASA Tech Briefs as one of seven key technological breakthroughs of 2007, is receiving additional support aimed at moving the procedure to the marketplace.
