October 18th. Over 22 rappel teams, 400 BASE jumpers, 180 vendors and thousands of people will be on hand for Bridge Day 2008 to be held on the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, WV. This is state's largest single-day event and the only time each year where it is legal to walk on the New River Gorge Bridge, 876 feet over the New River. The best way to get to the bridge is by riding the Appalachian Power shuttles. This year, Appalachian Power and the Oak Hill Rotary Club have agreed to sponsor the shuttles to make them more affordable. For $2, visitors may park their cars and take a shuttle to the Bridge Day entrance
