BHS DECA members Minoka Gunesekera, Anna Smith and Marissa Fraley are leading a service project called “Home for the Holidays”. Originating as a small service project last year, the student leaders want to provide 175 elementary children living in Montgomery County who receive free or reduced lunch nutritious breakfast food over the winter holidays.
Efforts for this year’s project are dedicated in honor of Ayesha Wintersdorff, a 17 year-old BHS DECA officer who lost her life in a car accident this summer.
Each eligible child will receive one grocery bag full of the following items:
1 bag of ritz-crackers (4 tubes) 1 box of cereal (15 oz.) 1 box of granola bars (10 bars) 1 jar of peanut butter (18 oz) 1 package of applesauce (6 cups) 1 package of pop-tarts (8 pastries) 1 box of graham crackers (14 oz.) 1 box of fruit snacks ( 6-10 snacks)
To help, you can either donate $17 (please make checks payable to “Home For The Holidays”) or drop off a grocery bag with the listed items at Blacksburg High School before December 1st, 2008.
