Blacksburg High School DECA Club Needs Your Help! (8:00AM)
BHS DECA members Minoka Gunesekera, Anna Smith and Marissa Fraley are leading a service project called “Home for the Holidays”. Originating as a small service project last year, the student leaders want to provide 175 elementary children living in Montgomery County who receive free or reduced lunch nutritious breakfast food over the winter holidays.

Efforts for this year’s project are dedicated in honor of Ayesha Wintersdorff, a 17 year-old BHS DECA officer who lost her life in a car accident this summer.

Each eligible child will receive one grocery bag full of the following items:

1 bag of ritz-crackers (4 tubes)
1 box of cereal (15 oz.)
1 box of granola bars (10 bars)
1 jar of peanut butter (18 oz)
1 package of applesauce (6 cups)
1 package of pop-tarts (8 pastries)
1 box of graham crackers (14 oz.)
1 box of fruit snacks ( 6-10 snacks)

To help, you can either donate $17 (please make checks payable to “Home For The Holidays”) or drop off a grocery bag with the listed items at Blacksburg High School before December 1st, 2008.

As a recording artist, Byrd slides easily from bluegrass into country, and then into country blues. The opening band Saturday night will be Windfall. This Floyd group is a dynamic acoustic quartet featuring beautiful harmonies coupled with hot guitar, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica licks. The Floyd Country Store is at 206 South Locust Street (State Rd. 8).

Friday Night Jamboree (6:30PM)

The Floyd Country Store is more than a music venue. It has become a traditional gathering place on Friday nights for musicians, dancers, and visitors from all over the world. The Friday Night Jamboree is an outstanding and authentic experience you can share with new visitors to Floyd. Many of those who attend the Jamboree are regulars, and for them, the Jamboree is a place to see old friends week after week. But the Jamboree also gets visitors every week from all across the country, and very frequently from around the world. At the Jamboree, we’re all very proud of and grateful to the musicians who bring their instruments and their talent to the store every week.
