Holiday Waste Pickup Schedule

The City of Radford will observe the Christmas Holiday on Dec. 24, (half-day) and Dec. 25 and 26, 2008. Solid waste collection for Dec. 24 will be Tuesday, Dec. 23 along with Tuesday’s regular collection. Solid waste collection for Christmas Dec. 25, 2008 will be Monday Dec. 29,2008 along with Monday’s regular route, Friday Dec 26 will be picked up on Tuesday Dec 30 along with Tuesday’s regular route. New Years solid waste will be picked up on Monday January 5 along with Monday’s regular route, and Friday January 2 solid waste will be picked up January 6 along with Tuesday’s regular route. Citizens need to have solid waste out by 7:30 AM. The Drop Center will be closed from Dec. 24 thru Dec. 26 it will reopen on Saturday Dec. 27, 2008 from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. On New Year’s it will be closed from Dec. 31 thru January 2, 2009 and reopen on January 3, 2009 from 7;30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Debt Service Options for Major Capital Projects

City Council has been considering three major capital projects over the past years. During the past few months, we have moved forward with more detailed study of these projects. Armed with conceptual designs, identified sites and data, the time has come to consider the impact that these projects would have on citizens in terms of tax and utility rates. This report is intended to provide an overview of these costs and allow Council to determine which, if any, projects should be taken to the next level of design. The next steps, if Council should choose, would be to award a contract for final design, begin preparations for seeking bids on the projects and issuing debt to pay for them.

He’s known by all Marines and around the world, yet many in Radford had never heard of John W. Ripley, USMC (Ret.).
The 1957 RHS graduate earned the nation’s second highest award for valor, the Navy Cross, while serving in Vietnam.
